TomTom has bitten the dust yesterday morning in a court case they had filed in mid-October against Garmin. The Dutch manufacturer of portable navigational systems demanded in court that the Garmin StreetPilot 300 and 500 range should be banned from the shops because they resembled TomTom's own GO series too much. The judge in The Hague now disagreed with TomTom.
Angular
During the court case, images of the Garmin systems were compared with TomTom's. The judge found that Garmin's PNDs were clearly distinguishable from TomTom's because they were more angular. For this reason, TomTom's demand was thrown out.
