TomTom GO 920T spotted in US storesAfter the announcement of the new high-end model of the TomTom GO range, a lot of us are waiting for this new unit to finally end up in the shops. It seems this waiting has now paid off, because we've got word that GO 920T units have been spotted in the BestBuy stores. For the sum of $699.99, this new toy can be yours.

Compared to the already available GO720T, the GO920T of course features a few extras. For one, the device contains 4 GB of flash memory, which is already nicely filled with the detailed maps of Europe, the United States and Canada. New detailed additions for Europe are the Czech Republic, Slovakian, Croatian, Hungarian, Polish, Slovenian and Russian road grids. For countries like Albania, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Ukraine there's still only the major roads available.

Enhanced
The GO920T also features Enhanced Position Technology, EPT for short. This technique enables calculation of position, even when there is (temporarily) no GPS reception. Think tunnels, woods and urban areas with high buildings here. With this PND, losing the way becomes near impossible.

This model also ships with a Bluetooth remote control. This RC has only got a few buttons, but it's still possible to control the entire device with it. Of course, just like with the 720, the destinations can also be entered with voice recognition. This means the device does not need to be touched at all, which only serves to enhance road safety while driving of course.

Traffic information
In the United States, the GO 920 ships as the 'T' variant. This version is shipped as standard with the RDS/TMC wire-aerial in the box, which is needed to receive real-time traffic information. The GO 920 will be shipped without this aerial in a few countries though. It's expected the GO 920 will cost ¤ 599, and anther ¤ 50 more needs to be added to that for the 'T' version.

I know, I said, I'd never buy tomtom ever again after the TMC debacle, but could not resist as I'm in Florida at the moment, popped in to best buy and picked one of these up, $699+tax, about £370 all inc. tried it out today and it's a step up from the 910, I've not used the TMC as yet, but will on Monday when I go to Kennedy.
