Well, until TT launch the 2010 “black box” with built in video camera and dedicated SD card including a record now button as well for insurance purposes, I don’t think I will be buying another TT. I have bought 3 now and the only advantage apart from physical size between my 730 and the Classic is the voice. And we all know the classic is capable of running Kate with the right err tweaks, cough, its just TT wanted our cash. The list of features I don’t want or need (and someone is bound to come on now and say that these features are the best thing ever!!) Anyway: The Help button. Waste of space not used by me, its just a collection of POIs not a fab new sales and marketing tool. If I wanted for example a list of Europe’s dentists or whatever I would have already loaded a POI group of such places. Along with that the where am I button? Jeez that info is already there anyway. Hands free, it's crap, won't work with most of my phones and the quality is poor. Anyway I have a built in car kit as do most people that drive for a living. Either get it to work with all phones like my Parrot or dump it. FM Transmitter. Great idea, unusable in reality. If you happen to be in a desert with no other radio stations to interfere with it then its fine. I am not though and have to change the frequencies every 20 miles. TMC. Waste of money, space and time. Did not work, too slow and inaccurate info. Grrrr Auto screen brightness-never really worked well, turned it off. TomTom weather. Inaccurate and who cares anyway. Buddies was fun but it never really worked well and then only on a few phones. Messages was of no real use either because it just was not as good as a phone. I dislike that new little compass but do use it. Photos, you can’t really use it unless you resize all the photos. Waste of space the processor cant cope. Music-nahhh not as good as the ipod, and would be better if the FM transmitter worked well. I won’t get started on Home and how naff that is and how much easier it is to drag and drop stuff through Windows. I could go on but I am boring myself now. So black box and video camera that records the travel data onto an SD card please and stop faffing about with rubbish ideas that we are not going to use just so you can say you have a new product, charge us for buying it and then discover that really the original was better. Oh and change the exit on motorway warning back to 1.2 miles instead of the 2 + miles it is now. By the time I get to the exit I have forgotten I was supposed to get off Moan moan grumble moan. Cool, my sentiments exactly. I will stick with the 720. --------------------

QUOTE Combined with the new v8.10 maps, the owner of an x40 can use the next generation of the IQ routes technology. When calculating a route, this technology takes historical data into account on each roads that lies on the route, every day of the week, every time of day, with an interval of 5 minutes. To me, this is the one really interesting feature. IQ Routes are a nice idea, but daily averages are only useful for avoiding bad roads, traffic lights from hell, and so on, where the average speed is much lower than the speed limit -- not to avoid those roads that are unbearable at rush hour but are the quickest route at other times. IQ Routes with the time of day, on the other hand, may even make traffic receptors obsolete. I hope my 530 can get this feature eventually. QUOTE The GO 940 LIVE features EPT, an FM transmitter and an MP3 player. These features are not available with the GO 540 and 740 LIVE. Does this mean that the 540/740 will lack features included in the 530/730? |

The next generation of IQ routes is being sold pretty much as the original IQ routes was being sold but it seems now that it is not as great as they first said it was. I have never noticed it change any of my regular routes whatever day or time I travel. Frankly I don’t believe a word that the TT marketing team say anymore and wait for forums to report on what it actually does. And so far the reality is often somewhat different to what TT claim.

Yes there are completely new icons on the new range.
But it hasn't come in with v8 software... there are plenty of devices already running v8 that DON'T have the new icons (yet). |

Lets give them a little time CND, to see if they do release software for the older models at the same time as the release of the 940. Then the only outlay should be for the HD attachment. Nice thought but I'm not holding my breath, the 930 FW 8.x hasn't been released for 910 yet. Think I'll wait until something that actually needs new hw, like this http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/01/28/ma...l_solid_satnav/ |

I believe that will also include the other "Live" services, such as Google search and mobile cameras. I could be wrong though...
As usual, its 9.95 EURO everywhere else in Europe. Rip-off Britain again |

I hope that with the new live services that people may use the TT cameras.
A good system IF people report the mobile cameras as they see them. Don't get me wrong, the other camera data base is great but i get sick of the constant beeps when iam passing what may be a camera. My sub for the traffic and cameras is about to run out and iam waitng to see the new units. A new map and add on HD lead then may be time for a new model for me altogether. Kev --------------------

I haven't been on here for ages, but I've been looking at upgrading my old 910 which I gave to my wife (my car has built in SatNav). I really liked my old 910, but all the extras they try and cram in really bug me. As others have stated, who really wants to play their MP3s through their flippin' TomTom?! The switch back to the active mount is annoying too. I remember everyone hating it on the x10! The x20 and x30 mount looks so much better. I was looking forward to the x40, but I think I'll wait for the x30 prices to drop almost nothing and get one of those after all!
