TomTom have just announced the public release of NAVCORE version 8.350 for the Go x20, x30 and x40 ranges.

This is quite a major release with some great improvements and new features:

It re-enables the ability to route instructions through the FM Transmitter (GO x20, GO x30 only), but only when music is also being transmitted via FM.

There are new "Indicator markers" on the "Browse map" and "Navigate to..." screens showing the direction and distance as the crow flies to your home, present location, current destination and a pre-settable marker. I LOVE these! (especially the way they move around to get out of each others way as you scroll the map) although you can switch them off if you don't like them.

Attached File  Markers.jpg ( 45.84K ) Number of downloads: 86

It apparently improves the phone book transfer to the device.

As usual, there are also many 'Minor improvements' (a.k.a "bug fixes"!)

The new software is downloadable via TomTom's "Home" utility for the PC and Mac.

They are just great - and what I like is if you touch each one, the map jumps to that point (Home/Start Point, End Point or Current Position).

Couldn't see them on the "Navigate To..." page though??

I have updated my 720 to V.8350. I now notice that Operate my Go and Backup and Restore are not working in Home. I have tried a reset to no avail. Any help will be appreciated.

Graham

For me, Operate my Go stopped working with the previous upgrade as did Mapshare. These have now been fixed so there was a Mapshare upgrade of 8MB and an emulator file to allow the Operate my Go to function correctly. There is method of downloading the emulator file manually but I'm not up to speed on it's location on the TT site.

The emulator ("Operate my Go") in Home needs a file that often takes a day or so to be made available (written by a different software team?). When it is reay, Home will download it automatically, so keep trying the emulator.

Backup and restore - you REALLY shouldn't be using Home for this! Use Windows Explorer, as described in our "How to..." section HERE.

Don't forget you can set a green "Marker" too!

Sorry, I was a bit vague. What I meant was that they are there on "Navigate to..." / "Point on Map" and also on the "Details" / "Browse map of route" once you have calculated a route. smile.gif

Thanks for your help guys, I did realise that it's not a good idea to use Home to back up, never the less it should be working. I always use Windows Explorer for backing up.
Many thanks.

Found a bug,
Anyone confirm this?

Using voice control.
Navigate to favourite then select a fav from the list.
Mine picks the correct one on the list but plans the route for another one on the list.

Tried a few resets but still the same.

I wouldn't mind seeing the one that points t the destination on the main navigating screen!!

I'm very disappointed with the reduced volume level on my 920 with this new software. I appreciate that this is most probably to cure the distortion bug experienced by some others but I never experienced it due to my device being constantly connected to my car charger. I know you can't please all the people all of the time but the previous volume levels were quite adequate but with this new software upgrade you can hardly hear the instructions.

On a different note, Andy how come your zoom bar and options in your " browse map " picture at the start of this thread are the opposite to my device? Is this layout specific to certain devices?

I haven't noticed reduced volume... It might be worth checking something on your device. See if the "Link volume to noise level" option has got ticked in Change preferences/Volume preferences (I seem to remember it does with this update) There's also a long-standing bug where it often works backwards! i.e. it gets QUIETER the faster you drive.

That one's easy... I have it set up for left-handed (Change preferences page 5 on my 940) smile.gif

They got the message then.... and thumbs up to them for listening!!

Try the following then, enable the Nav voice and Music to output via the FM Tx, once its all playing go back to the mp3 player control screen and pause the music, nothing but silence except when a navigation direction is read out - I guess this little loop hole will soon be closed off with another update? - Mike

I can't send a message to a Buddy anymore. No icon for 'Send Buddy A Message'. Stopped me chatting all day long for free.
Perhaps that was the idea?

My 920 reverts to internal speaker after 30 secs or so if I do that.

Never tried it with 920 but if thats the case put a silent mp3 track on the device and let that loop as an alternate way to achieve the same thing - Mike
