I was going to mock one up in Photoshop for a laugh, but when I Googled to find a pic of one in a plane to get me started, I found these...

So I don't think it will be very long at all...

Remember the story about the woman who set the cruise control on her Winnebago, then went into the back to make a cup of tea? (and she then sued them successfully because they didn't say it only did speed, not the steering!)

Maybe its not far away...

Head-Up Display and a Forward Looking Infra-Red camera are both options on the new 7 Series BMW range. Looks quite cool but the temptation to drive about with no lights on would be too great....! shok.gif

Wonder why none of the car manufacturers have approached Tom Tom to provide the built-in Nav unit for their cars? The standard ones I have seen (Ford/Vauxhall/Toyota) are awful and have a very inferior interface. Trouble is how do I get my car up the stairs to dock it to my PC so I can do my weekly firmware update!?!?!?!?! lol.gif

Cheers Paul

I think it would be pretty easy to combine this with a light-sensor, which would then make sure then headlights are turned on automatically when darkness falls. Or maybe even better: make it so that the headlights are *always* on, like in the Scandinavian countries. (although I do realise this suggestion probably isn't very popular with motorcyclists, because they would become harder to spot in the midst of busy traffic)

They already have had contracts with Toyota and Nissan if I'm not mistaken. (sure about Toyota, not so sure about Nissan).

They could build in a wifi receiver, so that you could update your car's GO from within your house! blum.gif

Oh Bart trust you to thing practically about these things, I've just been out to PC World and bought a 40m USB lead!!! give_rose.gif

Seriously though, good info, be interesting to see if TT actually makes it in a recognisable form onto any of the mainstream vehicles?

Bart, hi.gif Any more news on these TinyToms? If TT bought the screens in Sept they should be almost cooked by now and ready for serving?

No, nothing more to report on that. Maybe this next CeBIT? I haven't heard anything more. (and I'm not just saying that because sometimes I'm under NDA. I really haven't heard anything...)
